Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to Shelby County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its content, or using a search feature means the visitor accepts all terms below. Anyone who does not agree should stop using the website.

NO FCRA USE. This is a privately owned website with no government affiliation. Neither it nor its advertising partners offers a service intended for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or another Fair Credit Reporting Act use. Shelby County record references are for public-resource navigation. This website is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

Shelby County Criminal History is an independent reference resource. It does not keep official criminal records, conduct an official background check, retrieve a record on request, or file documents for a visitor.

Its pages identify record custodians such as the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, local criminal courts, Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division, and Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Official access remains governed by laws including the Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, and criminal-history dissemination rules in Government Code Chapter 411.

2. Rules for Using This Site

A visitor agrees not to misuse the website or information reached through it.

  • Do not violate federal, Texas, or local law
  • Do not stalk, threaten, intimidate, or harass another person
  • Do not use content for hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions
  • Do not attempt unauthorized access to a system or account
  • Do not run bots, scrapers, or automated collection tools
  • Do not interfere with performance or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information from this website or a linked tool must not be used to harass, stalk, threaten, intimidate, or unlawfully discriminate. Registry information receives special protection: Texas law forbids using Texas Public Sex Offender Registry data to harass or commit a crime. It is provided for public-safety awareness, not vigilantism or blacklisting.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We do not create a credit report, background check, or consumer report and are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. Advertising partners do not provide services here for applicant screening, rental decisions, insurance pricing, or creditworthiness. A visitor may not use website or linked-tool information to:

  • Make a hiring or termination decision
  • Evaluate a renter or housing application
  • Set credit or insurance eligibility or terms
  • Decide access to a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other activity regulated by the FCRA

A check required for a regulated purpose must come from an authorized official process or an appropriate FCRA-compliant provider.

5. No Legal Advice

Material here is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Shelby County charge, conviction, warrant, expunction, or nondisclosure rule applies to one person. Consult a licensed Texas attorney for advice.

6. No Warranties

The website and its content are supplied "as is." We make no warranty that:

  • Any page is complete, accurate, or current
  • Service will remain continuous or uninterrupted
  • The website contains no defect or security weakness
  • A partner result will be accurate or comprehensive

Criminal records change as charges are filed, resolved, corrected, restricted, or expunged. Website content is not an official statement by Shelby County, a court, a sheriff, or a Texas agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to courts, agencies, legal resources, and outside search providers. Those destinations control their own content, availability, prices, security, and data practices. We are not responsible for them, and visitors should review their terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Website text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Shelby County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, altered, distributed, or used to create another work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the greatest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for a loss or damage arising from use of the website, its information, or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A visitor agrees to protect and hold us harmless from a claim, action, demand, fee, or cost caused by that visitor's use of the website or violation of these terms.

11. Governing Law

Texas law governs these terms. A dispute connected with website use must be brought in a court located in Texas.

12. Changes to These Terms

These conditions may be revised. A revision becomes effective when the new terms are published on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or ended at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue. The affected provision is adjusted only to the extent needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions
